Board of Governors Meeting Minutes for 5 August 2001

Meeting called to order at 7:20 P.M. EDT by Harvey Stein.   Present: Harvey Stein George Barney Max Mejias Roland Collins Mike Hayden – Departed at 8:01 EDT. Gave proxy vote to Mr. Stein. Joel Lesser Jon Reid – Arrives 945 EDT Amy Gilbert – Arrives 945 EDT   Observers: Ron Lemke Matt Gunter - Secretary Jim Davis Tom Schroeder – Representing Mr. Jenkins with comments however not with a proxy    vote.     Mr. Stein enters this discussion into executive session with no objections from the board. The board then exists executive session to vote on this issue.   Call signs *** see below There was a discussion about how to differentiate between a founder’s call sign and a person who sits on the Board of Governors but is not a founder.   VATSIM<# on founders certificate> designation will denote a founder. The login VATGOV<# on the BOG> would be used for Board of Governor members.   Dr. Mejias moves to accept the proposal that founders log in with a VATSIM<# on founders certificate> and Board of Governor positions are assigned a permanent number and a person on the Board of Governors would log in with VATBOG<# of the position>. Motion fails due to no second.   VATSIM Memorabilia Offer Prior to the meeting, Mr. Stein forwarded all of the Board of Governor members an offer from a group to print merchandise with the VATSIM logo on it. After a good deal of discussion, it was decided the offer would be sent to the developers group prior to any action being taken.   Supervisors Some discussion took place on who should receive a supervisor rating. It was decided that a supervisor rating should not be given based on a position but on the person. The list of supervisors below was voted to receive a rating of supervisor (11).   The chair enters this discussion into executive session.
